London is the most appealing City in Europe to visit, invest and live, according to the Digital City Index.
The recently launched Digital City index, developed by Bloom Consulting and Digital Demand — D2© measures the digital appeal (the #CityBrand) of 67 cities European cities in the dimensions of #Tourism, #Talent (Work, Live and Study) and Investment (#FDI).
Here are the main highlights:
#London takes it all but watch out — Cities with higher growth are hungry for poll position! London is the clear leader in all 3 dimensions. Although it is not the fastest-growing city, there is enough progress to keep it in 1st place. However, there are some gloomy indicators. There has been a decline in labour cost related searches and the #Talent dimension searches of startups was down 6%.
#Reykjavik steals London’s thunder with the highest growth! Despite placing 46th in the overall ranking, Reykjavik is the city that has been experiencing the highest growth out of all the represented cities. It has observed an incredible increase in searches (84%).
#Paris was hit hard by terrorism, as such it lost its 2nd place to #Barcelona and dropped to 3rd. In Tourism, searches declined by 3% and in Talent, Paris saw a small growth (1%). The next edition of the Digital City Index will reveal the truth of how the Barcelona attacks and the Catalan Crisis may have affected the ‘almost perfect’ current #CityBrand.
Other notable cities whose digital appeal deteriorated in 2017 were #Brussels and #Istanbul. It took 2 months for Brussels to recover from the attacks in the Talent dimension and 5 months until it reached former levels of searches in the Tourism dimension. Istanbul’s downfall may have, however, reached a point of no return. Searches performed about Istanbul’s Tourism dimension have decreased by 32% since last year.
